Netflix’s top 5 new films to watch this week

Although there won’t be as many new releases this week, there are still a few interesting films hitting the top streaming platforms. Netflix is the one stealing the show, as the streaming giant has two highly anticipated releases this week.

3 Underlying Fears That Push Men Away From Relationships

‘Anyone But You’ (Netflix)

The kind of high-profile romantic comedy that formerly dominated Hollywood is “Anyone But You,” but in recent years it has progressively limited to streaming sites. That’s why “Anyone But You” did so well at the box office at the end of 2023; but, if you missed it in cinemas, now’s your opportunity to watch it at home.

Anyone But You

‘Monkey Man’ (PVOD)

Dev Patel makes his directorial debut with “Monkey Man,” a violent revenge thriller in which he also stars. Patel is a multi-talented performer. Patel portrays an unidentified lead character who works as a fighter in a clandestine boxing ring during the night. But, the child’s nighttime actions are only a means to an end since he is determined to exact revenge on the city’s elite leaders, who he believes are to blame for a tragic occurrence in his youth and who still mistreat the weak and impoverished.

‘Miller’s Girl’ (Netflix)

Martin Freeman and Jenna Ortega, the stars of Netflix’s hit “Wednesday” series, team up for the sensual thriller “Miller’s Girl,” which poses some very awkward questions. Cairo Sweet, portrayed by Ortega, is eighteen years old and in her final year of high school. In a class on creative writing led by Jonathan Miller (Freeman), a writer who finds it difficult to produce fresh work, the boundaries between the teacher and the student begin to melt, leading to an increasingly unsuitable class project.

‘Infested’ (Shudders)

streaming service with a horror bent Shudder is currently experiencing a bit of a hot streak. It debuted in theaters last month to widespread praise, and this week it offered a refreshing found footage horror film called “Late Night with the Devil.” The terrifying film streamer is also adding “Infested,” which appears to be another must-see thriller, to go along with that fantastic addition. This unsettling film has received similar praise from critics; it presently has an impressive 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

‘Love Lies Bleeding’ (PVOD)

In 2019, director Rose Glass made a huge impact with her first feature film, “Saint Maud.” With her much awaited follow-up, “Love Lies Bleeding,” which debuted in theaters in March and is currently getting ready for its online debut, the British director is back. This extravagant film is equally excellent despite abandoning the psychological horror of her debut picture in favor of a pulpier thriller with a love undertone. With Kristen Stewart, Katy O’Brian, Jena Malone, Anna Baryshnikov, Dave Franco, and Ed Harris among the cast members, Glass has put together a formidable group.
